Opium Pulses started as an old school clan on various games across many different platforms. We started out on Habbo Hotel in our pre-teens as a Mafia/Krew. The clan is a merge of two different groups (Opium Virus Krew + Duality Pulses Krew).

The clan then moved on to Korean third person shooter/slasher (GunZ) for its European beta period, where it had up to around 50 members. The clan really grew to a respectable size when its founding members moved to JaGeX's MMORPG (RuneScape) in their mid-teens. Around this time the founding members were in a separate clan on Xbox Live called 7 Sword Heroes, a clan influenced by Nintendo’s Zelda, with 7 founders split between America and the U.K. The clan’s play base was on games such as Halo 2, Call of Duty 3 & Doom 3.

In their late teens, many of its members were getting the next generation of consoles (of which were becoming extremely popular with the Xbox 360 & PS3's release). Suddenly first person shooters exploded with games like Halo 3 & Call of Duty 4... Opium Pulses followed... and so the clan made itself reachable on Xbox Live - sticking mainly to fast paced, co-op driven multiplayer games such as Gears of War, Halo & Call of Duty titles.

When console gaming slowed down and the founding members returned to PC in 2012 for the release of Diablo 3, this was the perfect time for Opium Pulses to be resurrected and restructured. From here we decided that we needed a medium for Opium Pulses members to communicate between gaming sessions. Opium Pulses tried creating forums and websites in the past with little success. That's when we decided to give it one last try. Creating a brand new forum and starting from scratch, this time, it would be all or nothing.

When deciding to create the forum and broaden our community, the founding members agreed to drop the 'Krew' from our name, although will still use the 'K' in the abbreviation of Opium Pulses sometimes for old time's sake. The creation of the forum was Opium Pulses expressing itself as a brand as opposed to just a clan. With old OP members returning for some nostalgia, and heavy promotion bringing in new members, the forum started to feel like a place to contain the community we always wanted.

Next, Opium Pulses tackled Steam and created a Steam group to hold the name and promote the community. This did well and gained over 100 members in a matter of weeks. Soon after, TheEpicFacePalm was shutting down his giveaway project on Steam and offered us the chance to take it over with our name and really show Steam users what we had to offer.

Later, after the success of our giveaway group, PowerDarki offered us his trading group. We took both groups over at around 1,500 members and they're now not far from the 10,000 member mark. Around this time Scream offered OP the chance to have official Counter-Strike and Battlefield servers as well as a TeamSpeak channel for our members to talk on.

This is when Greynor started doing deal announcements at the trading group for OP, it got a great reaction and helped us to decide how else we could provide for our members as a community. We decided to create the deal posting group 'OP Savings', shortly before the fall of Hookups.

During our first giveaway parties at OP Giveaways, something incredibly special happened. A dozen members came to the chat and made the giveaways some of best nights we'd ever had since the root years of OP. We hadn't felt that sense of community since the Habbo Hotel days and set in stone our thoughts on the future of Opium Pulses.

Opium Pulses started to become well known on Steam with the launch and growth of our new groups such as the launch of OP Elites, OP Staff and OP Savings. More people started to join chat as regulars and mould it into something not often seen within other communities on Steam. The podcast was born and Opium Pulses began looking at ways to entertain the community with weekly pre-recorded shows dedicated to its members.

In 2013, Opium Pulses launched the Arcade, a feature built to contain the most loved and played browser based games from around the web, all playable on one page! From Angry Birds to Plants vs Zombies, Opium Pulses aims to keep you entertained with the best games available, for free.

In 2014, Opium Pulses launched their own game store to provide the best prices on digital games for mutiple platforms. Introducing unique extras such as hand-picked bundles, digital gift codes and regular only discounts. The store has enabled Opium Pulses to prove itself as an ever evolving experience that aims to provide useful and entertaining services for gamers.
